National Parks is a travel memoir, part National Park biography and part adventure with the Lopez Family. This first of two books takes the Lopez family on the road trip of a lifetime over 7 years to 31 or our ever expanding 63 National Parks. In a time of rapid change for their son, they also see the change of mother nature. She in part helps the family find love, religion, and turn the grief of a dying mother into a natural conversation amongst the parks.
Whether the Lopez family is finishing a half marathon in Zion, snorkeling in the Dry Tortugas, or talking to a Marmot in the Grand Teton, Antonio weaves together the type of stories you’re not likely to find in any guidebook. Along the way, this small family from Santa Fe tie all of us to Mother Nature-and reveal how their grad adventure changes the author’s view on everything from a dying mother, the COVID Pandemic, God, and family.
Filled with intriguing facts about our parks and reflections on their fragile future, this first book of two is both a celebration of and a passionate case for the natural wonders that all Americas share.
